There are a variety of groups and activities connected with the Church or which meet in the Community Centre. Please contact the organisers as listed below or through the ‘contact us’ page.

The church choir comprises soprano, alto, tenor and bass singers and is open to boys, girls, men and women. The choristers sing at the Sung Eucharist (10.00am) every Sunday morning and at Choral Evensong (6.00pm) on the first Sunday of the month. Members of the choir sing at other special services during the year including the ‘Temple Newsam Service’ and the Christmas ‘Festival of Lessons and Carols’. St Mary’s Church is an affiliated member of the Royal School of Church Music. If you would like to join the choir or would like more information please speak to the Director of Music after a service or email [email protected]. Members of the choir at St Mary’s also sing as part of the Whitkirk Deanery Choir which was formed in 2009 and comprises choristers from several churches in the local deanery. Once every year, since its formation, choristers from the deanery have sung Evensong at Ripon Cathedral and have also led the singing there on two other occasions – a ‘Celebration Eucharist’ in 2015 to mark the 130th anniversary of the Mothers’ Union in the former Ripon Diocese and a service in 2017 entitled ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.
