Whitkirk is a place where all find a welcome, regardless of gender identity, gender expression or sexuality. We are committed to building a space and community which is free from prejudice, and tackle intolerance wherever we see it. Same-sex couples and people of all gender identities have long been part of our church life, and we would love you to join us.
If you’re thinking about coming along to St Mary’s then our “what to expect” page has plenty of information on what happens at our services. If you’re not sure or have any questions please do get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
Can I get married at Whitkirk?
The Church of England does not currently allow same-sex marriages to be solemnised in church, and we are not able to hold a special service to bless a marriage that has taken place elsewhere. However, we are able to offer blessings for couples in one of our regular acts of worship, and we are always happy to talk with you about this.
If you’d like to discuss a blessing please get in touch with our vicar either by emailing [email protected] or calling 0113 264 5790.
