What happened?
Our Festal Evensong service on Sunday 3 November didn’t stream as expected.
Why did this happen?
Between loading the YouTube Studio page for the stream and instructing the stream to go live to the public Google had signed out, meaning the “go live” command couldn’t complete.
Why didn’t we notice it?
Usually we expect things to start streaming once we have clicked the button, and the operator switches away to other tasks.
What did we to do fix it?
We didn’t notice the problem until after the end of the service, at which point we were unable to do anything about it.
How are we stopping it from happening again?
We’ve added a new item to our pre-service checklist to double check that YouTube is not only receiving the stream correctly, but that the stream is live.
