As part of the building work at the west end of our church we uncovered part of a previously unknown wall painting. Whilst we know that parts of St Mary’s have been painted in the past there is no record of any decoration in this part of the building.
We are obviously excited about this discovery and eager to learn more about this part of our history, and we are seeking expert advice on what to do next. In the meantime we are keeping the area closed to make sure there is no further damage to the plasterwork.
